What SHARING is NOT:
Only allowing someone to use something when you're done, finished with - or no longer have use for it
In an attempt to standardize the way in which head coaches deal with the multiple sport athletes, I'd like us to consider the following proposal. It may be close to what we say that we do, but it would benefit all parties concerned, primarily the student/athlete, if we formalized the policy. The proposed suggestion is as follows:

To promote maximum participation, equity among programs, and the encouragement of our student/athletes to explore multiple sports without feeling the pressure to choose between sports, and consider the student-athlete first, the following guidelines should be followed:

Outside the Season of Sport:
*Games take precedence over a practice or workout
*Varsity takes precedence over JV/Frosh
*Games/practices for the next season of participation take precedence over games for subsequent sports.
 examples:
-football passing league, volleyball league tournaments over basketball summer league or tournaments and American Legion baseball games.
-basketball summer league or tournaments over American Legion baseball games.
-Varsity players should attend Varsity games before JV/Frosh games
  examples:
-football passing league, volleyball league/tournaments, basketball summer league or tournaments, Americn Legion baseball over practices in any sport.
-basketball summer league or tournaments over baseball/softball practices.
  examples:
-football/volleyball practice or workouts over basketball or baseball practice or workouts.
-basketball practice over baseball/softball practices.
-Varsity players should attend Varsity practices before JV/Frosh practices

*Every effort should be made to allow the Multi-Sport Athlete to attend offseason practices in all sports. Coaches should communicate and coordinate. This can be done by either splitting time on a single day, or alternating practices on alternate days. If a conflict is unavoidable, practice for the next season of participation takes precedence over practice for subsequent sports
